American Film Institute (AFI)

Founded in 1967, the American Film Institute (AFI) is the nation's preeminent arts organization dedicated to advancing and preserving the art of the moving image. IDT faculty and students are working with the AFI and Warner Brothers Home Video to produce a Digital Edition of Casablanca, as a prototype of the AFI Networked Classics Collection, a portal and common information architecture for the study of American film art.

Global Classroom Project

The Global Classroom project technologically links student and faculty at Georgia Tech with collaborative partners at the European University in St. Petersburg, Russia and the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden. The project provides an experimental forum for analyzing cross-cultural, digital communication. Both in subject area study and experientially, students explore issues in this area, analyze them, and report the results of their research, experience, and analysis. See the current class homepage.

National Endowment for the Humanities

The National Endowment for the Humanities is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation and public programs in the humanities. The NEH has provided funding for the Casablanca Digital Edition.

New Media Education Consortium (NMC)

The New Media Education Consortium promotes creativity and innovation among and between corporate entities and higher education for the benefit of student learning, faculty development and staff proficiency in using new media tools and technologies. Since its founding in 1994, the NMC has grown to include over 125 colleges, universities, museums and corporations.

Nurun / Ant Farm Interactive

Nurun / Ant Farm Interactive, a subsidiary of Montreal-based Quebecor Media Inc., is a global interactive marketing agency, whose clients include companies and organizations such as: L'Oreal, Cingular Wireless, The State of Georgia's Department of Economic Development, Equifax, AutoTrader.com, Home Depot, SkyTeam, Telecom Italia, Louis Vuitton, Club Med, and others. Nurun / Ant Farm Interactive has partnered with Georgia Tech's Digital Media Graduate Program to conceptualize, design, and develop mobile technology applications which were demonstrated at the Spring 2006 Digital Media Demo Day. These applications will eventually help Nurun / Ant Farm Interactive provide cutting-edge, mutually beneficial technology to both marketers and consumers.

P.O.V

P.O.V. (a cinema term for 'point of view') is public television's annual showcase for independent non-fiction films. P.O.V. presentations have won every major film and broadcasting award including Academy Awards, duPont-Columbia Awards, numerous Emmys, Peabodys and the PrixItalia. The series challenges the notion of television as a one-way medium by creating pioneering models and innovative broadcast-related projects designed to maximize television's potential. IDT faculty and students are working with P.O.V. to create an exploratory prototype of a DVD-based version of "The Two Towns of Jasper," a documentary about the 1998 racially motivated murder of James Byrd Jr. in Jasper, Texas. Rockefeller Foundation

The Rockefeller Foundation's Culture and Creativity unit is committed to improving the context in which creative people exchange and experience one another's work. Such committment has led to the support of a wearable instruments initiative based on TGarden research. The context is a comparitive study of new modes of collaboration among diverse art and engineering practices related to the technologies of expressive personal and collective performance.

The Sony-Kihara Research Center has provided research support at the Topological Media Lab. The funding provided supports areas related to media choreography, wireless sensors, gesture mapping to realtime synthesis of time-based media for expressive applications and play environments.

Turner Broadcasting

The IDT program has a working relationship with Turner Broadcasting to research and develop enhanced television. Located directly next to Georgia Tech's campus, Turner Broadcasting offers the ideal environment for interaction between students and a corporate media producer.

Texas Instruments

Texas Instruments has recently donated the use of high-definition equipment to the Laboratory of Advanced Computing Initiatives (LACI) in the Wesley Center for New Media for the research of enhanced television.

Warner Bros.

Founded 75 years ago as a motion picture producer, Warner Bros. is a global leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing and marketing of theatrical motion pictures, television programming, video/DVD and related products. Warner Bros. Home Video spearheaded the development of the DVD, which has become the fastest-growing consumer electronics/packaged media format of all time. IDT faculty and students are working with Warner Bros. and the American Film Institute to produce a Digital Edition of Casablanca, as a prototype of the AFI Networked Classics Collection, a portal and common information architecture for the study of American film art.
